About the Artist
Nicole Sánchez Ilzenhöfer was born and raised in two worlds: the Dominican Republic and Germany. These roots shaped her identity and artistic sensibility. A multidisciplinary artist, she studied photography at the Private School for Photo-Design Christoph Eberbach in Pforzheim and has dedicated more than twenty years to commercial and artistic photography. Her work has been recognized in prestigious competitions, and she has exhibited in the Dominican Republic and the United States. Seven years ago, she became a self-taught painter. In her paintings, the vivid colors of the Caribbean intertwine with European landscapes, evoking places and moments that shaped her childhood. These are memories to which she can always return, intact in their magic, illusion, and innocence. Her paintings are inspired by the parallels between the animal and human worlds, including respect, longevity, heritage, and the need to preserve species. Coexistence and cultural and ethnic diversity are also themes in her work. Strength and fragility, love and loss are emotions that emerge honestly in each of her pieces.
“Nectar”: Honeybees, which pollinate many agricultural crops in the world, are dying in record numbers, ranging between 60 and 100% in 2025. Honeybees face pressure from pesticide use, habitat loss, climate change and mite infestations.
