About the Artist

Dory Whynot is a painter and illustrator based in Maine. Working primarily in watercolor and ink, she focuses her portraits and figurative-centric work with themes of nature, romance, and the macabre, contextualized in the blurred threshold between physical and surreal states of being. She’s also a massive sucker for emotional, in-depth character-driven stories in film, books, and games. She loves the woods, the ocean, cats, and anything having to do with vampires.degree in animation from Cal ARTS and at present lives in Peoria Illinois with his husband Tom.

“Bodies In Our Wake”: Two creatures, both alike in dignity: ‘Bodies in Our Wake’ is, simply put, a love story. I’ve always felt drawn to the romance and tragedy of monsters who find their power and, conflictingly, imprisonment, in the night hours. It seems that it would be a very lonely life indeed. I wanted to think of a time where, maybe, a werewolf and a vampire find unexpected solace in each other; where darkness becomes not only a shroud for survival, but a sweet respite from longing.
