The Paracosmic Escape exhibition is Beautiful Bizarre Magazine’s 18th international curated exhibition, and our 6th in partnership with prestigious San Francisco gallery Modern Eden Gallery. This exhibition brings together over 80 incredible local American and international artists, including the Winners of the 2024 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize. Each artist explores the Paracosmic Escape theme through the lens of their unique lived experience and artistic styles. While at the same time bringing the pages of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine to life!
Our thanks to 2024 Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize sponsor and exhibition partner Musonium Gallery‘s Founder and Art Director Keeley Gerard for contributing the Art Direction/theme conceptualization for this year’s exhibition. Keeley shares his thoughts about the Paracosmic Escape theme below.
“We use imagination to form new ideas from information we already know, to make sense of reality and our perception thereof it and conversely the creation of new universes parallel to our own. Where seismic explosions of microcosmic brainstorms transport us to fictional reflections of our true selves, bound by rules of our own making.” Keeley shares. “To slip back into a child-like imagination, finding peace with our past, comfort in the present, and hope for the future in the safeguard of our own mind. To create our very own paracosmic escape.
“As the title suggests, Paracosmic Escape explores themes of retrospection, introspection, and complex relationships with the real world, where internal gateways offer a place of sanctuary to heal from and provide explanation to the effects of reality.”
Paracosmic Escape will also showcase the work of the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize 2024 winners, in each of the five Award categories: RAYMAR Traditional Art Award (1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners); Photography Award (1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners); Yasha Young Projects Sculpture Award (1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners); Digital Art Award (1st, 2nd and 3rd Prize Winners) and 33PA Emerging Artist Award (1st and 2nd Prize Winners).
