About the Artist

Born in Beijing, China in 2005, Chloe Chen has been on exchange programs in multiple countries and regions, and will soon embark on her university studies at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her artistic creations stem from introspective self-examination and active response to the complex external world. Meanwhile, her style has been influenced deeply by Japanese-style manga and experimental French cinema. She draws inspiration from various sources, allowing her illustrations to evolve naturally without adhering to a particular style, gradually forming her unique art philosophy. Ultimately, she has been achieving a universal resonance on the unknowable dark side of the moon.

“Fictional Self”: symbolizes the artist’s sharp dismantling of herself, through which Chloe tries to inspire the audience to think about philosophical questions about human existence and connection. The mysterious resonance between skull and metal, the blurred edges between the natural man and the cyborg, and the sparks between avant-garde style and girlishness all immerse us in an artistic realm full of unknowns, fantasies, and explorations. In this way, “Fictional Self” is not only fiction but also the artist’s deep concern for the nature of reality.
